The People of Nicaragua

One of the most beautiful things about Nicaragua are the people. Hands down. We’ve experienced this first hand in many ways, but especially by managing, working with and learning from our employees at Paradiso. We thought it’d be fun to share who they are through a few words, but mostly through the photos we captured of each of them. They’re all unique characters with their own individual personality, which made for a beautiful, fun and eclectic group of friends to hang out with everyday.

Cesar

This is our gardener. Every morning at 6:30 he comes on to the property to clean up the brush as well as put his artistic ability into making the scenery as beautiful as possible. He is in his early 30’s and has 2 children. We like chopping tree with machetes, fixing docks, and cooking gallo pinto in the jungle over fire together. We always have a good laugh or two throughout the day. He is my pal.

Meylin

This pretty lady is one of our lovely cleaning girls. She’s also the wife of Ceasar (aka Ceasito)! She’s a beautiful person, quiet, but just the sweetest. She was very helpful and caring when I was sick–she’s naturally maternal with everyone. She’s also got a wicked sense of humor and can always be seen laughing at the jokes and crazy fiascos Ceasar and Jonathon get into together. On top of all that, she’s also a very hard worker as well as a great mom. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for her and her whole family. Her daughter is the spitting image of her–beautiful, kind, caring, smart and sweet.

Jorge

This awesome dude is our security guard. He’s 46 years old and is married to a 20 year old whom he has one child with. He can be found telling JB dirty jokes and making him laugh around 10:30pm when he checks in for work. Contrary to what this serious photo may portray, Jorge is one of those guys who is always happy, smiling and wanting to make others around him be happy as well. He’s very good at it and always brings his positive energy with him to work. He’s always taken the time to work with us both a lot on our Spanish and we’ll always be thankful for that. He’s a one of a kind, kind of guy.

Fabiola

This is our wonderful hero–each email we send her, we tell her, “tu eres nosotros héroe!” Not sure what we would do without her sometimes. She doesn’t actually work on property with us, so unfortunately, we don’t get to see her as often as we’d like. She’s one of the hardest working ladies I’ve met out here–she’ gets sh** done. My kind of girl. She works full time at Oasis, but helps out whenever we need it. She’s very direct, but fun, very funny and just likes to have a good time. Oh and she’s got the best shoe collection of anyone I’ve met out here. Seriously, she has the cutest heels and wedges I’ve ever seen. I told her I want to go shopping with her so I can see where she finds these gems! Hard work ethic and great taste in fashion? It’s no wonder why I heart Fabiola.
